ESPN
: The Cowboys traded LB Akin Ayodele and TE Anthony Fasano to
the Dolphins for a 4th-round draft pick, a person familiar with
the deal said Friday. The person didn't want to be identified
because the Dolphins and Cowboys hadn't confirmed the trade. The
Dolphins have repeatedly tapped the Dallas pipeline since the
arrival of former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells in December to run
Miami's football operations. The draft pick is #100 overall
Saturday. The Dolphins have eight other picks and will use the #1
overall choice to take tackle Jake Long, who has already signed a
5-year contract worth $57.75 million, $30 million of it
guaranteed.

: TE Anthony Fasano was a second-round draft pick
last year but was barely involved in the offense. In his first
game under new OC Jason Garrett, Fasano was a well-utilized
target. Fasano caught three passes for 43 yards in the first half
and helped carry the Cowboys to their second score. With starter
Jason Witten out of the game after the first drive, Fasano was
Tony Romo 's key weapon on the second drive, making catches of 18,
14 and 11 yards. He also appeared wide open for a touchdown, but
Romo threw a short pass to Marion Barber on third down. Last
season, Fasano had four receptions.

: Bill Parcells said Sam Hurd is one of
several players who will play extensively in Saturday's
preseason opener as the Cowboys attempt to evaluate unknown
talent. The group includes some veterans who have not
received much playing time, such as QB Tony Romo, DE Jay
Ratliff, G Cory Procter, LB Kevin Burnett, tackles Marc
Colombo and Rob Petitti and RB Tyson Thompson. In addition
to Hurd, Parcells said several rookies, including LB Bobby
Carpenter, safety Pat Watkins, TE Anthony Fasano, T Pat
McQuistan and DE Jason Hatcher, could play a lot Saturday.

: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the rookies
and free agents played as advertised during the three-day
rookie minicamp that began Friday. He was pleased with the
top two picks, LB Bobby Carpenter (first round) and TE
Anthony Fasano (2nd round), and is excited about DE Jason
Hatcher (3rd round). Hatcher is considered a project
because he played DE only two years at Grambling State. But
Jones said Hatcher is not "green." Hatcher dominated when
going against the other rookie prospects in minicamp, and
Jones can't wait to see him against the veterans, such as
LT Flozell Adams at the veterans minicamp June 2-4. "I
expected that because that is what we saw [on film]," Jones
said. "We are pleased with the way he moves."

reports on Anthony Fasano: Dallas will use TE Fasano
in their two TE formats. Fantasy stud Jason Whitten will
remain the Cowboys #1 receiving TE but Fasano has adequate
hands so he'll get some looks if he develops. In fact, his
best skill as an NFL TE looks to be his hands. He lacks
special speed but the expectation is he'll start well
before mid-season.
